Extension Instructor Allen Berger honored for work in Support Group Awareness

Dr. Allen Berger, a recognized member of the LMU Extension faculty, will be awarded the Susan Laufer Award for “outstanding contribution to support group awareness” by SHARE!, an organization dedicated in assisting the wider community in issues such as substance abuse, depression, anger management and health concerns. SHARE! was established in Los Angeles in 1993 to treat psychological frustrations and complications of the community through supportive, accessible, and friendly self-help groups.

Dr. Allen Berger is a renowned clinical psychologist specializing in a wide range of clinical services. Dr. Berger has been an instructor in the LMU Alcohol and Drug Counseling certificate program since 2008. He teaches both the Basic Counseling and Family Counseling courses. He is the author of 12 Stupid Things that Mess Up Recovery (2008), and 12 Smart Things to do When the Booze and Drugs are Gone (2010).
